How to enable built in fingerprint lock in WhatsApp

WhatsApp gets fingerprint lock feature on Android

Android users can now automatically lock the application and unlock it only with their fingerprint.

Users can also choose how long the application will be automatically locked, from immediately after closing, until after 1 minute and after 30 minutes. Users can also choose whether the content of their messages will be visible in the notifications, including the sender of the message.

You can still answer calls when the application is locked.

How to To enable fingerprint lock in WhatsApp:

As an additional privacy measure, you can prompt fingerprint lock when you open WhatsApp on your phone. When this is enabled, you’ll have to use your fingerprint to access the app.

To enable fingerprint lock:

  1. Open WhatsApp > tap More options  > Settings > Account > Privacy.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Fingerprint lock.
  3. Turn on Unlock with fingerprint.
  4. Touch the fingerprint sensor to confirm your fingerprint.
  5. You can tap to select the amount of time before fingerprint authentication is prompted.
    • Turn on Show content in notifications if you’d like to preview message text inside new message notifications.

HOW To disable fingerprint lock in Whatsapp

  1. Open WhatsApp > tap More options  > Settings > Account > Privacy.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Fingerprint lock.
  3. Turn off Unlock with fingerprint.

Note:

  • You can still answer calls if the app is locked.
  • In order to use fingerprint lock, you’ll need to have it enabled in your phone’s settings.
