Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Release Date Announced : Pre-Orders Open

When Can we Expect the Release of Red Dead Redemption 3?

Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered by many to be the best console game ever created, and Rockstar Games successfully managed to better the much-lauded original. The western series is now up there alongside Grand Theft Auto in terms of popularity, and it would be surprising if there wasn’t a follow-up.

The big question is when the next installment of the Wild West will drop. The studio is notorious for keeping its cards close to its chest, but it could be possible to make an educated guess.

Flagship Series Likely to Continue

The Red Dead series began way back in 2004 with Red Dead Revolver. This was followed by Red Dead Redemption in 2010 and Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. That means there was a six-year gap between the first two and an eight-year gap between the second and the third. It’s clear that the latest offering was much more detailed, so it’s no surprise that it took longer to develop. However, Rockstar Games also put a great number of people on the project, using different branches of its global studios.

In 2018, Dan Houser said that Rockstar Games would decide whether to make another offering in the series depending on how well Red Dead Redemption 2 performed commercially. The company probably had an inkling that the game would be a success, but they couldn’t have predicted just how massive it would be. Indeed, it had the biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment. It raked in more than $725 million in three days and went on to be one of the best-selling video games of all time.

Games Reinvigorated Western Genre

The western genre was completely reinvigorated with the release of RDR2 in 2018. Since then, there have been countless other offerings across popular culture that have used its themes. In the gaming industry, there are options for a variety of platforms, meaning that players have a vast amount of choices if they want more options in the genre.

On mobile, there are loads of Wild West-themed titles like West Gunfighter, Westland Survival, and Six-Guns. The online casino industry also has plenty of slots. One of the best-known is Dead or Alive, which is available at the safe Playstar. It’s safe because it only uses games from recognised developers and has all the correct licenses in place. Dead or Alive is a huge draw for online casinos like this, and it has even led to a sequel.

There are other westerns available for console players as well. One of the most original ideas in recent times is Evil West. It has gunslinging themes but also features plenty of monsters and undead beasts. It could have been inspired by Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, an expansion pack for the 2010 game that was released in October of the same year.

With the western genre now being so popular thanks to Red Dead Redemption 2, it would be a crime if there wasn’t a follow-up to the much-loved story. It’s likely that some branches of Rockstar Studios are currently working on it, but there is going to be a greater focus on the development of GTA 6 first. Judging by the timeline of the other games, it could be reasonable to assume that there will be another installment before the end of the decade.
