Valve has announced the venues for three Dota 2 Majors

The first Dota 2 Majors of the 2023 season will take place from February 24 to March 5 in Lima, Peru. This is reported by the portal Escorenews, citing its sources.

According to the journalism portal GosuGamers, the second major of the new season will be held from April 28 to May 7 in Katowice, Poland. The last major in 2023 will be held in Bali, Indonesia, from June 30 to July 9.

The organizers of the tournament have not been named yet, but if one of the championships is held in Katowice, it will probably be hosted by ESL. It should be noted that this is not official information and may not be accurate.

Why hosting a Tournament in Lima is a bad Idea

The tentative dates for the tournament are from February 24 to March 5. Lima has been experiencing mass protests since December 2022 following the ouster of President Pedro Castillo. The unrest spread to several cities, after which authorities declared a state of emergency.

Lima Major 2023 organizer 4D Esports told Escorenews that there were no preconditions for canceling the tournament in mid-January. According to managing director Adrian Mohme, the unrest did not affect the championship’s venue.

Mohme also said that visitors to Lima should find out shortly before the start of the majors which regions are likely to see protests at that time and avoid such locations if necessary. In 2022, two Dota 2 betting Vulkanbet majors will be held in Stockholm and Arlington.
