Top Games for PS5 in 2023

Sony is currently enjoying a phenomenal amount of sales & revenue thanks to the latest iteration of the PlayStation. The PS5 is a juggernaut when it comes to delivering cutting-edge graphics topped with snappy gameplay. With the console having been introduced to the public back in 2020, it’s been three continuous years of the PS5 enjoying its status as the current king of the hill. That means all sorts of games have been making their way over to the console and we’re excited to share the best of them for the year 2023.

Before we make our way to our listicle, we’d like to advise equipping yourself with an internet that can handle all that online, sappy goodness that’ll be needed when playing multiplayer games on the PS5. Top sellers such as COD, Fortnite, and PUBG are all in constant requirement of a robust internet connection that can help stabilize the experience that the game delivers. AT&T Internet is a wonderful option if you’re looking for exactly this because of the speeds along with the reliability it offers 24/7.

Now, without further ado, let’s delve into our games!

God of War Ragnarok

Arguably one of the best games Santa Monica Studios has produced and a solid sequel for God of War (2018). GoW Ragnarok continues the story of our rugged heroes, Kratos and Atreus as they brave through Fimbulwinter; an extended amount of wintertime that signals the end of the world.

Ragnarok’s story is one of family, betrayal, discovery, and of putting an end to the tyranny of the gods. For those of you who have played through the first game, there’s still much digging to be done across the nine realms, with four of them locked during the events of the prequel. Now, however, all the realms are accessible with lots more lore and mystery to unravel with the progression of the story.

Kratos and Atreus must trudge through gory yet ever-rewarding battles all while the elder gods are hot on their tail. The father-son duo has a lot of soul-searching to do if they are to survive Ragnarok. Even more so because Thor, Odin-son, has a personal vendetta against them. And so does the former Queen of the Valkyries, Freya. Lots of frenemies and lots of hack & slash make this game a delight to play.

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart

It’s hard to beat a game that’s practically been made to showcase all that the PS5 can do. Insomniac put everything it had into its first game for the PS5 and boy it did not leave any stone unturned. Longtime fans of the game since the days of the PS2 will find quite a lot of trinkets that’ll remind them of the glory days. The game has quite a couple of nods to the franchise’s beginnings as well as new mechanics & characters that are a delight to experience.

All the iconic weapons have been brought back as well, including but certainly not limited to the Topiary Sprinkler all the way to the powerful Executor. All the weapons make full use of Dual Sense’s haptic feedback. Players will be delighted to find enhanced resistance according to the game’s mechanics on the controller. The D-pad can be utilized as well in order to solve various mini-puzzles throughout the course of the game.

Returnal

The Returnal is a roguelike game that pumps up the genre to the max with its mechanics & graphics. It’s been a while since an AAA title has fully embraced roguelike features with arcade shoot-‘em-up strategies. Returnal borderlines on a horror game due to its characters and a general sense of foreboding due to the music and storyline.

Horizon Forbidden West

You can’t do much to something that’s already so perfect. Horizon Forbidden West appreciates what its prequel introduced and builds up on the areas where it lacked. The storyline is a bit wonky since the game decides to introduce too much sci-fi in one go but that is kind of justified given the developers needed to patch the story up that’s been scattered into data chips along the way.

The true point of joy is Horizon’s new and returning robot animals. There aren’t many changes as far as game mechanics go but new weapons, including traps and bows along with the helpful, trusty glider make gameplay almost new. Exploration is always a joy and players will be happy to know that the map is 20% bigger than the prequel’s.

Resident Evil Village

The face of horror games and a fantastic narrator of gory, suspenseful stories, Resident Evil has come back again with the eighth installment to its franchise. Instead of bumping around a house, our titular hero, this time around, explores an entire village filled with mystical goons & nasties ready to pounce at the slightest opportunity.

Creepy doesn’t cut it when getting into the specifics of this game. The village is ripe with werewolves, zombies, and all manners of slimy enemies and rich vampires who apparently own an entire mansion dedicated to producing fine quality wine.

Conclusion

That’s all we have today for you to feast your eyes on. PS5 games won’t stop exploding into stores anytime soon but it is a tad bit tacky in rummaging through to the best ones. We did our part to shed light on the ones worthy of your time and money so go ahead and give them a look online. Happy gaming!
